With her multiple roles as Top Chef host, cook book author and super model, it seems Padma Lakshmi has mastered the recipe for success. So it comes as no surprise that Lakshmi is offering women another ingredient for a successful stress-free life, helping them understand about the often misunderstood condition, endometriosis.
Yesterday, Lakshmi along with Dr. Tamer Seckin hosted their first fundraising event, the Blossom Ball for her new foundation. Lakshmi talks to People Magazine about her own experience with endometriosis and reveals, “I’m somebody who never knew I had this condition and always thought that everything was okay.
She continues, “I found out in a very hard, difficult way – and I had to be operated on. Now, I’m fine but it was a very trying ordeal.”
The Blossom Ball will also include an honorary committee, featuring 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski and supermodel Helena Christensen.
Lakshmi adds,”I just thought I had a responsibility to let other young women know so they wouldn’t have to go through what I went though. If you get tested at an early age, it’s very simple to be treated for it and it will save you from a lifetime of pain and stress.”
