People Magazine announced their annual compilation of the World’s Most Beautiful people bringing back old favorites like Angelina Jolie and introducing newbies like Slumdog Millionaire’s Freida Pinto.

In the words of Kara Swisher, Boomtown runs smack into Huffington Post’s Arianna Huffington at the AlwaysOn OnHollywood conference.

Goa tracks down tourists with Swine Flu

Goa, a popular vacation spot for the young and old alike might not be so welcoming for its latest visitor, Swine Flu. According to reports in The Hindu, Goa is tracking down about 500 British tourists who came to the sunny state post the flu outbreak in the western world.

Dr. Rajendra Tamba, epidemiologist, says of the state’s plan, “We will seek assistance of all the health workers posted at various health centres to get the throat swab samples of the visitors.”

Confirmed: Dev and Freida Pinto are a real life couple

As I reported earlier, Slumdog Millionaire co-stars Dev and Freida were photographed getting cosy during a lunchtime date. Dev Patel’s mother confirms to the Daily Mirror that the duo are indeed a real life couple and is quoted as saying, ” Life can’t get any better for him. Freida is really beautiful, and I am really happy for them. “

Two Indian Americans named in the Obama administration

India West reports on the news that Rajiv Shah and Aneesh Paul Chopra have been named as chief scientist at the United States Department of Agriculture and Chief Technology Officer, respectively. Shah, who will preside over a variety of issues such as food safety, energy and climate, agricultural productivity and global food security was previously the director of agricultural development for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Chopra was formerly Virginia’s Technology Secretary and would work with the newly named Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra.

Both men come with high praise from their past employers with Obama saying of Chopra, ” Aneesh will promote technological innovation to help achieve our most urgent priorities — from creating jobs and reducing health care costs to keeping our nation secure.”

Reports of Dev and Freida: Romance or Ruse?

After being photographed on a lunch date, the rumor mill continues to swirl that Slumdog co-stars Dev Patel and Freida Pinto are real life sweethearts. According to reports, Dev Patel visited Frieda on the set of her new movie in Israel and an onlooker reveals to The Sun, “They looked very happy together and they didn’t seem to care who saw them. Dev couldn’t take his eyes off her – and she kept snuggling up to get closer to him.”

Meawhile, trying to have a little fun, E Online! pitts the supposed sweet couple with another mega ( allegedly) couple from Twilight, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, asking viewers who should hook up?

Padma’s other passion

With her multiple roles as Top Chef host, cook book author and super model, it seems Padma Lakshmi has mastered the recipe for success.  So it comes as no surprise that Lakshmi is offering women another ingredient for a successful stress-free life, helping them understand about the often misunderstood condition, endometriosis.

Yesterday, Lakshmi along with Dr. Tamer Seckin  hosted their first fundraising event, the Blossom Ball for her new foundation. Lakshmi talks to People Magazine about her own experience with endometriosis and reveals, “I’m somebody who never knew I had this condition and always thought that everything was okay.  

She continues, “I found out in a very hard, difficult way – and I had to be operated on. Now, I’m fine but it was a very trying ordeal.” 

The Blossom Ball will also include an honorary committee, featuring 30 Rock’s Jane Krakowski and supermodel Helena Christensen. 

Lakshmi adds,”I just thought I had a responsibility to let other young women know so they wouldn’t have to go through what I went though. If you get tested at an early age, it’s very simple to be treated for it and it will save you from a lifetime of pain and stress.”

Obama gets all humany with Times of India Reporter

It seems strange to point out a person’s human moments as ABC’s Jake Tapper did in his Political Punch blog, but when we’re talking about President Obama-the man who some bill as the “messiah” or in some cases a “superhero”-maybe such examples aren’t uneccessary.

Obama had a very regular guy moment when he teased Times of India reporter Simran. After she mentioned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Obama responded by calling him a “wonderful man”.  She agreed, which prompted the President to tease, ” Did you have something to do with that?”

Aziz and Amy give me something to tweet about

Update: Betcha didn’t know that Parks and Recreation actually premiers next Thursday April 9th! Thanks to Ruchi for pointing that out. Until then, tweet away!

If you’d been following the cast from Parks and Recreation on twitter..well you know where I’m going with this. Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler’s new show with Aziz Ansari is set to debut today on NBC.  The mockumentary style show centers on the ins and outs of local government  with Poehler as a bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana.  You can follow the cast’s tweets or watch Amy’s apperance on Leno.

Gurinder Chadha Dines at Downing Street

 What’s G-20 media coverage without talk of botched bailouts, President Obama and Gurinder Chadha! The Bend It Like Bekham director was in attendance along with other guests of the G-20 delegates’ spouses at a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown at Downing Street. Chadha wore a simple pink salwar kameez and feasted on lovage, Welsh Lamb and other goodies prepared by celebrity Jamie Oliver. Chadha is set to produce and direct the comedy, It’s A wonderful Afterlife featuring Shabana Azmi,Sally Hawkins, Jimi Mistry, and Zoe Wanamaker.
